Not sure what gifts to give this year, and want to get your loved ones something special without breaking the bank? Try a fairy present!
What is a fairy present, you might ask? If you read into folklore, you’ll find out the Fae loves to leave little gifts for the people that matter to them. The gifts are small, yet well thought out. Despite being small, they’re beautifully presented.
If you have a large family, or a giant friend group, you might be scratching your head and wondering how you can get them all presents without harming your financial wellness.
Remember, the people you love don’t want to see you in financial distress. It would probably hurt them to know that you racked up credit card debt to buy them presents… and Christmas time has the highest rates of credit card debt accumulation. Yikes!
Part of slow living is making sure you are intentional with purchases, so your finances stay abundant.
Intentionality will allow you to live stress-free and not have to pick up those extra shifts in January. Furthermore, slow living is about buying in a way that’s mindful. Combining slow living principles with those of the Fae creates today’s idea. When it comes to choosing Christmas gifts, considering the other person’s interests, passions, and personality is important.
This is where fairy presents come in! They are under $10 and can even be completely free, if you’re able to make something on your own. If you’re purchasing, I’d HIGHLY recommend buying these items in bulk, or packages of a few off Amazon or from Marshall’s. (This is more economical than buying single items.) Then, you can give each friend one from the package!
Here are 15 ideas to include in your gifts. And when in doubt, choose 3-4 per person from the following list:
- Cozy socks. Especially fuzzy socks, or the cute patterned kind. Make sure to choose your friend’s favorite color, or a pattern they would love!
- Nail polish. You can buy a whole large package of nail polishes and give each friend a color of two. Make sure to pick their favorite color!
- Candies. These are a must for your fairy gifts. Consider whether your friend likes chocolates or gummies better!
- Hats. Because everyone needs more comfy hats for the Winter time.
- Candles. Bonus if you can find candles in Christams-esque scents!
- Jewelry. You can buy a few pairs of earrings in one package from Marshall’s or Amazon and give each friend one pair. Bonus if you put them in a cute little satchel!
- Lip gloss. Anything from the early 2000’s is in right now, and that includes high shine lip glosses! If they’re scented, try to match the scent with your friend’s personality.
- Warm gloves. It’s cold outside. Need I say more?
- Mugs. You can purchase different colors or even mugs that pertain to an inside joke with your friend group.
- Scarves. You could match the color with the gloves!
- Journals. You can find adorable journal notebooks that are colorful with uplifting quotes throughout.
- Body spray. Find out your friend’s favorite scent and try to match each scent with your friend’s preferences.
- Pocketknives. This one is for those in your life who love to work with their hands.
- Stickers. If your friend group likes a certain aesthetic or cartoon, give them each a sheet of stickers of their favorites.
- Essential oils. This is such a lovely, versatile gift that can be used in the bathtub or on the pillow at night. I’d recommend relaxing oils such as lavender.
Don’t forget to give each friend a card with a lovely note inside, written by you! This will really top off your presents and make them special.
Now that you have some ideas, let’s talk about presentation. Again, the Fae always makes sure their gifts are beautiful and have a lot of thought put into them. For this, I’d recommend buying small gift bags in bulk and in a pattern or color that your friends and family would like. Don’t forget the tissue paper! I’d also recommend wrapping each individual gift in tissue paper before putting it in the bag.
Fairy presents are the perfect way to give gifts to everyone who matters to you without the stress of buying individual presents for each person.
Instead of thinking, “What would this person want? What would that person want?” You can give gifts to your entire family or friend group that you know everyone would like. I would post what I’m putting in my fairy presents for this year, but I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise for my family and friends!
